Sougama – Pebble Pattern Neriage Bowl

A cobblestone field in clay — hundreds of individually laid discs of blue, grey, and brown, inlaid edge to edge across an asymmetric, wave-rimmed bowl.

Neriage (marbleware) porcelain by Sougama, a family-run kiln founded in 1984 by Yuji and Namiko Kusaba — the only kiln in Arita still practicing this technique. Layered colored clays are combined, sliced, and inlaid to reveal a pattern that runs through the entire body — never applied to the surface.
