Sougama – Seigaiha Wave Neriage Cup

The classic seigaiha wave, indigo and white, laid in overlapping arcs across the entire cup — a traditional Japanese motif built through marbling rather than paint.

Neriage (marbleware) porcelain by Sougama, a family-run kiln founded in 1984 by Yuji and Namiko Kusaba — the only kiln in Arita still practicing this technique. Layered colored clays are combined, sliced, and inlaid to reveal a pattern that runs through the entire body — never applied to the surface.
