One of a nested trio — a scalloped lotus-form bowl in pale celadon, its surface crossed with hand-applied gold kintsugi lines. The breakage becomes the ornament, not the flaw.
Celadon porcelain with gold kintsugi repair by Jeremie Pare Julien, Canadian ceramist and art historian working at Kōraku-gama in Arita, Japan, encountered during John's residency there. Part of the MIMIZU series — porcelain left to weather outdoors for years before being re-fired and finished, its organic wormlike lines traced in gold rather than concealed.
