John Mac Ceramics – Tear Drop Vase, Sienna Horizon

A teardrop bottle vase, its rounded belly inspired by the bellied water jars of the Philippines — a form John grew up around, and one that happens to serve the fire well too: the wide shoulder gives saggar smoke room to pool and settle, deepening the marks where the body is fullest.

Rust, black, and warm brown drift across the widest point in this piece, fading to bare porcelain at the neck and base — no two firings ever land the same way twice.
