John Mac Ceramics – Tear Drop Vase, Smoke Veil

A teardrop bottle vase, its rounded belly inspired by the bellied water jars of the Philippines — a form John grew up around, and one that happens to serve the fire well too: the wide shoulder gives saggar smoke room to pool and settle, deepening the marks where the body is fullest.

Here the fire climbs higher, dark charcoal and rust reaching up into the neck itself — a more dramatic mark than its companions.
