John Mac Signature Saggar Cup – Breaking Shore

This cup is a shoreline in motion.
The pale cream of the upper body is the sky before the weather arrives. And then the wave breaks. Dark charcoal rolls through the lower half like the deep underside of a swell, and above it, fine rust-red wisps drift and scatter like sea spray caught by wind. A single copper wire line cuts diagonally across the surface — the precise moment the foam meets the rock. Below the dark band, the lower body is speckled and scattered — golden sand and pebble, wet and glistening after the tide has passed.

Handmade in Limoges porcelain and fired multiple times. The exterior is completely unglazed. The interior is finished in a transparent satin glaze.
Combustibles: dried carrot pulp, tangerine peels, pine cones, lime leaves, wood chips, dried grass, with wire mesh, copper wire, red iron oxide, manganese and cobalt wash.
