John Mac Signature Saggar Cup – Desert Dusk

Look at this cup long enough and you will see a landscape.
The deep burnt sienna that sweeps across the upper body is the colour of a desert at the last moment before dark — that suspended breath between the dying sun and the arriving night. Below it, a band of deep charcoal and shadow, like the silhouette of a distant mountain range pressed against a fading horizon. And at the foot, pale cream earth — dry, still, cooling.

Handmade in Limoges porcelain and fired multiple times. The exterior is completely unglazed — shaped entirely by the residues of fire. The interior is finished in a transparent satin glaze, its tone quietly transformed by the copper wire fumes.
Combustibles: pine cones, lime leaves, hemp wood chips, wood chips, dried grass — all from the maker's garden. With red iron oxide, manganese, wire mesh and copper wire.
