John Mac Signature Saggar Cup – Ember Ground

This cup holds fire.
A blazing band of deep amber and burnt orange erupts across the lower body — the colour of earth still glowing after the flames have passed, of a horizon lit from below rather than above. Dark charcoal frames it on either side, pressing in like the weight of a winter sky, and above it all, pale cream porcelain stretches clean and still — the air before the smoke arrives.

The outside is completely unglazed. What you see is purely the residue of fire — red iron oxide and manganese moving through the saggar atmosphere, concentrated and intense, releasing this warmth from within the clay. The interior is finished in a transparent satin glaze, its tone quietly transformed by the copper wire fumes.

Handmade in Limoges porcelain and fired multiple times.
