John Mac Signature Saggar Cup – Pine Forest

This cup is a forest at the height of summer — and then after the fire has passed through it.
Deep mahogany and rich burnt sienna envelop the exterior, the warmth of pine resin and dry timber burning long and slow. Generous handfuls of dried pine cones and lime leaves gave this cup its extraordinary depth.
Look inside — the copper wire fumes seeped through the porcelain wall itself, leaving fine green lines visible on the interior, fire writing from the outside in.

Handmade in Limoges porcelain and fired multiple times. The exterior is completely unglazed. The interior is finished in a transparent satin glaze.
Combustibles: pine cones, lime leaves, wood chips, dried grass, with wire mesh, copper wire, red iron oxide and manganese.
