Handmade porcelain cup, crafted through slip casting and saggar fired with hemp wood chips and dried grasses, wrapped with copper wire and fine wire mesh. The surface was washed and dusted with cobalt carbonate, creating soft gradients of blue mist across the porcelain body. Light traces of manganese dioxide add subtle earthy browns, grounding the cooler tones.

This series evokes the quiet stillness of morning fog or drifting clouds, where cobalt blues soften into porcelain white. During firing, cobalt’s interaction with the porcelain produces a delicate sheen, giving parts of the raw exterior a light gloss while still preserving its natural, fire-drawn texture. The interior is finished with a smooth satin glaze, making the piece fully food safe. Warping may be visible, a quiet trace of the cup’s journey through three firings and a reminder of the beauty found in transformation and imperfection.
