Sougama – Bubble Cluster Neriage Cup

A sparse cluster of bubble-like discs drifts across a deep plum-brown ground, each ringed in pale marbled clay — restraint used as deliberately as pattern.

Neriage (marbleware) porcelain by Sougama, a family-run kiln founded in 1984 by Yuji and Namiko Kusaba — the only kiln in Arita still practicing this technique. Layered colored clays are combined, sliced, and inlaid to reveal a pattern that runs through the entire body — never applied to the surface.
