Sougama – Starburst Neriage Cup

Starburst rosettes repeat across a blue-grey ground, each one a tiny sliced spiral of marbled clay — a geometry that could only come from the technique itself.

Neriage (marbleware) porcelain by Sougama, a family-run kiln founded in 1984 by Yuji and Namiko Kusaba — the only kiln in Arita still practicing this technique. Layered colored clays are combined, sliced, and inlaid to reveal a pattern that runs through the entire body — never applied to the surface.
