Handmade porcelain cup, crafted through slip casting and saggar fired with combustables such as hemp wood chips, dried grasses, and wrapped with copper wire and fine wire mesh. The firing revealed delicate green tones where the copper fumed against the porcelain surface, contrasted by soft brown streaks from manganese oxide. Unlike darker firings, this series bears a lighter, almost translucent character — a quiet veil where smoke markings have softened and nearly vanished, leaving traces like winter skies brushed with earth.
Each piece balances fragility and strength, carrying the unpredictability of flame and metal in pale, ethereal layers. The interior is finished with a smooth satin glaze, while the exterior retains its natural saggar surface, revealing subtle fire-drawn patterns unique to every cup. Warping may be visible, a quiet trace of the cup’s journey through three firings — a reminder of the beauty found in transformation and imperfection.
