Handmade porcelain cup, crafted through slip casting and saggar firing, enriched with natural combustibles such as wood chips, dried grasses, flowers, and pine cones. Wash layers of red iron oxide and cobalt carbonate, blending into a plum-colored effect that drifts across the porcelain body. Black, linear imprints were created by wrapping the vessel with cocunut fiber rope dusted with manganese dioxide leaving striking organic markings that trace the form.
Each piece reveals the dynamic interaction between fire, oxides, and fibers, producing warm, earthen landscapes layered with deep plum hues. The interior is lined with a smooth satin glaze, ensuring a smooth, food-safe surface. The exterior remains unglazed, preserving the raw tactility and unique saggar markings that make each piece one of a kind. Warping may be visible, a quiet trace of the cup’s journey through three firings — a reminder of the beauty found in transformation and imperfection.
