Handmade porcelain cup, crafted through slip casting and saggar fired with copper wire, fine wire mesh, and wash layers of manganese dioxide and cobalt carbonate. Combustibles, including wood chips, dried grasses, flowers, and French lime leaves enriched the firing, while cobalt carbonate introduced deep indigo hues across the porcelain surface. A thin frit wash was applied to the exterior, softening the smokiness of the saggar firing while adding a gentle satin-gloss sheen that catches the light.

Carved linings accentuate the flow of the surface, guiding the eye across drifting cobalt blues and earthy fire markings. Each piece embodies the delicate balance between intention and unpredictability — dark blues and warm tones collide like a midnight storm, suspended in porcelain. The interior is finished with a smooth satin glaze, providing a tactile and food-safe surface, while the exterior remains partially raw to preserve the natural markings. Warping may be visible, a quiet trace of the cup’s journey through three firings and a reminder of the beauty found in transformation and imperfection.
